Trader Joe’s is getting into the Halloween spirit with a new mini tote bag.
The company’s Halloween totes, called the “Trick-or-Treat Mini Canvas Totes,” are available in stores beginning Wednesday, Sept. 30, the company told USA TODAY.
The bags were a social media sensation last year, with customers showing off their hauls and decorating them with patches, charms and paint.
“Guess what they just happen to have today?” a content creator who goes by Genossteaks shared on Oct. 10, 2025. “Halloween bags. Halloween bags. Of course I had to get one of every color. I almost got two because of the way that y’all be asking me for some whenever there’s a new drop.”
After showing off her haul, Genossteaks advised viewers to “run to their nearest Trader Joe’s, literally immediately” because “we all know how this always goes.”
Here’s what to know about Trader Joe’s launch of the Halloween mini totes this year.
What Colors Will the Trader Joe’s Halloween Mini Totes Come In?
The bags will be available in black, green, purple and orange.
How Much Do the Trader Joe’s Halloween Mini Totes Cost?
They cost $2.99 each.
How Long Will the Trader Joe’s Halloween Mini Totes Be Available?
The bags will be available for a limited time, according to Trader Joe’s website. They are about 13 inches long, 11 inches tall and 6 inches deep.
Trader Joe’s says the bags are “ideal for candy-collecting adventures, seasonal gifting (bags filled with treats for your boo = boo-bags!), quick grocery runs, or any small haul that needs a sturdy, reusable carrier.”
Trader Joe’s Continues to Add to Its Viral Tote Bag Lineup
From striped pastel mini totes to Micro Totes to insulated mini totes, the Halloween bags are the latest entry in Trader Joe’s expanding lineup of collectible bags.
The compact totes have developed a cult-like following among the store’s customers and the fashion-conscious. The bags first went viral in March 2024, becoming so popular on social media that procuring one has become increasingly difficult.
Trader Joe’s told USA TODAY earlier this year that it filed a lawsuit to protect customers from knockoff tote bags.
“We are aware that some knockoff totes are being sold online and have recently filed a lawsuit to protect our customers from being misled,” the company said in an emailed statement to USA TODAY in June. The grocer said it only offers Trader Joe’s products for sale inside its stores.
Trader Joe’s totes have found fans abroad, with bags listed on international marketplaces, including Coupang, Depop and Karrot, as well as eBay and Mercari. With no Trader Joe’s stores abroad, resale prices listed by U.S. shoppers are often dramatically higher than in-store prices, sometimes exceeding $1,000.
