Dad’s Viral Chick-fil-A Menu Order Can Feed 5 for $45

News Room

A dad’s money-saving Chick-fil-A order has gone viral and racked up millions of views online after he revealed how his family of five eats at the fast-food chain for less than $45.

Jeff Johnson, a pastor and podcaster, shared the budget-friendly order in a social media video, saying his family skips individual meals and orders a 30-count nugget tray and a few buttered buns instead.

“I have a hack for every dad who is always thinking ‘Why are we spending so much money at Chick-fil-A?’” Johnson said in a video posted on Instagram.

Instead of buying a sandwich meal for each family member, Johnson said his family orders a 30-count nugget entrée and three buttered buns, which they use to make chicken sandwiches for their children.

“Everybody’s happy. Dad’s happy,” Johnson said. “We have saved so much money. I’m just telling you can eat for under $45 at Chick-fil-A as a family of five. Do what I’m saying. That’s all I’m saying. Bye.”

The video has garnered millions of views in the week since it was first posted, with Johnson thanking viewers for “being viral” and bragging about the accomplishment to his family in a July 2 clip.

Johnson said the formula is simple: order a 30-count nugget entrée and purchase as many buttered buns as needed to make sandwiches.

In the video, Johnson said the nuggets cost a little more than $17 and the buns were 25 cents each at his local restaurant, though prices vary by market.

USA TODAY has learned that a 30-count nugget entrée order is priced at around $19 in Arizona. The cost of a regular bun was not listed online.
