Chipotle Is Giving Away Giant Tote Bags. Here’s How to Win One

News Room

It’s fun, it’s ridiculous and it’s free.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is giving customers a chance to win an oversized version of its signature brown takeout bag. The “Big A– Chipotle Bag” is a 170-liter tote (that’s nearly 45 gallons) measuring 3 feet wide, 2 feet tall and 1 foot deep, which the company says is large enough to carry everything from a family meal order to a trumpet.

Starting Oct. 13, rewards members who order one of Chipotle’s family meals through the Chipotle app or website will be automatically entered for a chance to win one.

Here’s what to know about the giveaway, the oversized canvas fabric tote, and Chipotle’s family meals.

How Do I Get This Bag?

The promotion runs from Oct. 13 through Nov. 10. Rewards members who purchase a family meal through the Chipotle app or Chipotle.com will be automatically entered for a chance to win through a multi-week sweepstakes.

How Big Is the Bag?

The oversized tote holds 170 liters and measures:

  • 3 feet wide
  • 2 feet tall
  • 1 foot deep

Chipotle created the bag as a supersized version of its signature brown takeout bag to accompany its new family meal offering.

What Do Chipotle Family Meals Cost?

Chipotle introduced family meals in late August as a group-order option designed to feed four to six people.

The meals cost less than $10 per person, according to the company, and allow customers to build their own bowls, tacos, salads, and nachos. Each family meal includes a choice of protein alongside chips, tortillas, rice, beans, guacamole or queso blanco, cheese, lettuce and toppings.

What’s in a Chipotle Family Meal?

  • Chicken, steak, barbacoa, carnitas, or sofritas.
  • One large bag of chips and 10 soft taco tortillas.
  • White or brown rice.
  • Black or pinto beans.
  • Guacamole or queso blanco.
  • Shredded lettuce and cheese.
  • Three salsas or toppings.
  • Optional bowls, forks, and napkins for six people.

Why Is Chipotle Doing This?

The giveaway is part of Chipotle’s push to promote family meals and group orders.

The campaign was created with Miami-based advertising agency GUT, which leaned into the sheer size of the bag.

“You see this ridiculously oversized Chipotle bag and immediately get the joke,” GUT Chief Creative Officer Ricky Casal said in a statement. “We leaned into that simplicity, treating it like a luxury object and letting the scale do the storytelling.”
