More than 82,000 rechargeable hand warmers, including products sold at Target, The Home Depot and Amazon, have been recalled over fire and burn hazards, according to federal regulators.
The recall affects about 77,000 Kobayashi’s HotHands-branded rechargeable hand warmers sold in the U.S., along with approximately 77 sold in Canada. It also covers about 5,500 Gobi Heat-branded rechargeable hand warmers sold in the U.S. and about 47 sold in Canada.
“The lithium-ion battery and electrical components in the recalled hand warmers can overheat and ignite, posing a risk of serious injury from fire and burn hazards,” the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in the recall notices.
No injuries have been reported in connection with either brand’s hand warmers.

Consumers should stop using the recalled products immediately and contact the respective companies for a full refund, according to the commission.
Kobayashi’s HotHands hand warmers are white and orange, while the Gobi Heat hand warmers are black and gray.
Both brands’ hand warmers come in packs of two that can be magnetically joined together and include a charging cable.
Each hand warmer features a USB-C charging port for its built-in lithium-ion battery. The devices also have adjustable heat settings, LED indicator lights and a silicone lanyard.

The recalled HotHands hand warmers can be identified by model number H163650, which appears along with the batch number on the underside of the product. The white HotHands logo appears on the top of the device and on the product packaging.
The HotHands products were sold at various retailers, including Bass Pro Shops, Meijer, Target, The Home Depot and Amazon, from July 2025 to August 2026 for between $30 and $40.

They were sold at GobiHeat.com from October 2024 through August 2026 for between $20 and $40.

The commission warned consumers not to dispose of the recalled hand warmers in household trash, curbside recycling bins or battery recycling boxes at retail and home improvement stores because of the risk of fire.

“Recalled lithium-ion batteries must be disposed of differently than other batteries, because they present a greater risk of fire. Your municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center may accept this recalled lithium-ion battery or device for disposal,” the commission said in its notices.
